Things I Fear: Eighth
Oct. 8th, 2012 08:28 pmIs it good or bad I'm having some trouble filling this list out?
#8: ISOLATION
I like being alone. Having time to myself is something I cherish, and I prefer to wall myself off when I want to think or write.
But I cannot stand being completely cut off from other people. Even when I lived alone, I was going to school and made regular visits to a local game store. Being cut off completely from human contact terrifies and maddens me.
When my parents went to Hawaii for ten days, they left me to take care of the dogs. My uncle was supposed to check in on me, but never did. With no means of transportation and no visitors, my only contact with other humans for that entire time was a single visit with my grandparents.
By the sixth day, I was beginning to suffer hallucinations. To this day, I consider that period the tipping point that truly aggravated my obsessive-compulsive disorder into its current, severe state.
