After a class that left me utterly drained and sweating, I was put through the latest belt test. Broke the board in three tries, passed the self-defense bit, and otherwise passed.

And so I'm a Green Belt Decided. A few (dozen) more tests to go.

Today was an in-school tournament for my taekwondo class.

After a short but intense showdown, I came out with two medals: 2nd place (out of four) for forms and 3rd place for weapons.

Even if there was little competition, I still like the feeling of accomplishment.

Frankly, I'm not thrilled. I earned a new belt, true, but so did Riley, and he barely moved.

Is it even possible to fail that test?

I got halfway through color belt class today when my ankle decided I needed to know what old age feels like.

It took a half-hour before I could walk without pain. And that was WITH my calves cooperating instead of lighting themselves on fire.

Back to taking walks, my legs are out of practice.

I tested for my next belt tonight.  It was a fairly easy test, aside from the usual bumps when we tested self-defense.

Because I'd taken a certain number of classes since my last test, I went from Yellow Recommended to Camo Recommended in one test.  I've got six more belts to go before black.

I owe my father another $110.

Not for any unpleasant reason, mind you, it's because that was the cost of my next color belt test.  If I pull it off, I'll be a camo belt.

I was punched in the chin, have a throbbing pain in my palm where it was hit between two breaking boards, hit myself in the head with my nunchuks, and banged up my forearm badly during board-break.

Yep.  Tae kwon do is still as good as it was before.

Passed my belt test. Probably because it had to be toned down for time, but a color belt is a color belt. Now I am a Yellow Recommended.

At least my belt is dyed and not stained.

No class tomorrow due to an in-school tournament. Looks like I'll just have to keep up my practice.

On Monday, I test for my next belt rank. It'll be a yellow belt... yes, the same rank the Sniper has.

I'm still waiting for word from Cub Foods. Given that I blanked when asked for an example of a time I gave good customer service (I'm applying for a cashier job), my hopes aren't great.

My toes hurt. All of the toes on my right foot.

I can't bend all the way.

Just this morning, I started getting jabbing pains whenever I bend my left arm.

My right arm is still aching. It's like taking a number of shots to the funny bone.

It was only a few days ago that I got the full use of my neck back.

My money's on my hip being the next to go.

The monthly tae kwon do payments are killing me.

I applied for a job at Cub Foods. If I can get a full-time position there, I should be able to pull myself into something a little better than where I am now. Even if I can't, I'll have finished paying off the account in November.

Class is still going well, so it's worth all the trouble.

So on Monday, I was at tae kwon do. During the self-defense portion, Mr. Palmgren, a tall and powerful man who often leads the after-hours kickboxing course, threw me particularly hard, and I came down on my neck.

It still hurts to bend it to the left or back, and laying down is a particularly bad idea.

Well, I suppose this means the broken toes are no longer my worst injuries from that class.
