Things I Fear: Fourth
Oct. 4th, 2012 09:50 pmSo what is the fourth of the world's creations that scares me?
#4: FIRE
I wasn't always scared of fire. When I was in the Boy Scouts, I would sit by the campfire like everyone else. But as I've grown and my OCD has strengthened, I've found it impossible to be around fire for any length of time.
I can't handle matches or lighters. Part of why I moved from the construction end of the housemoving business to the secretarial end is because part of the job involves sometimes using acetane torches. Simply, I can't stand fire. It terrifies me on a deep level, down in the lizard brain.
It's worth noting that, despite spending eight years in the Boy Scouts, I never did get a hang of starting my own fires.
