Anticreepypasta: Energy
Oct. 6th, 2011 03:58 pmThere is no afterlife.
This is nothing to fear.
The human brain operates on chemicals and electrical impulses. This is the sum total of conscious thought. What we see, hear, do, and feel are the results of the brain interpreting the outside world via chemical reactions and electrical signals.
The human body is composed of matter. Matter is energy that has "frozen" into a solid form for a time.
All things, in the end, are composed of energy. That is the way of things. This is why you must eat to survive - because you must replace the energy you expend over the course of the day's events.
Thermodynamics teaches us that energy can never be created or destroyed. When the time comes and your life ends, therefore, the energy that composed your consciousness does not simply cease to be.
Your body rots, the electricity that once formed your thought patterns dissipates and diffuses... but they are not lost forever. The energy that used to compose the cells of your body nourishes grass, which feeds animals, which feeds other animals.
Every speck of dirt on this planet is made from matter that was once part of the cosmos. And in the end, every spark of energy that is currently matter on this planet will someday return to the stars, in one way or another.
So the energy that currently forms the thoughts in your head will eventually wend its way out to the universe, carrying the memories of you with it.
You end. The story begins.
