Chicago 2012: Days 1-2
Jan. 25th, 2012 05:58 pmSo I'm in Chicago, and there wasn't much to say about Day One, other than that I managed to wait forty-five minutes for the wrong train and somehow got lost in the Ukranian part of town.
Woke up this morning, walked down to the bakery a few doors away from the hotel, picked up a cinnamon roll. Got into the habit of this last year - good cinnamon rolls. Then I took the train into town.
Caught a cab after wandering around for about an hour, only to find I'd gone in exactly the wrong direction, and made my way to the International Museum of Surgical Science. It was quite an educational time, albeit slightly technical. I'll post photos at a later date.
Got out, walked for a while, and caught the next cab to Pizzeria Uno. I'd wanted to try Chicago deep dish for a while. Managed to finally do so, and I must say it lives up to the advertising. Didn't even cost that much.
Walked back to Union Station, caught the next train back my way, and now I'm just letting my feet relax. I might go to the Thai restaurant down the way if I'm hungry later. Tomorrow I'm going to the Field Museum, and then it's Hala Kalhiki.
