That depends entirely on the nature of the power.  Some powers are more risky to share with the world than others, due to media saturation.  (Never tell people, say, that you can blow someone's head up with your thoughts.)

A power like healing I'd share with the world, though I would have to make clear from early on that I would not appreciate a rush on my time or energy.  Telepathy or other mind powers I'd try to conceal, to avoid mistrust.  Other abilities would be on a case-by-case basis - superhuman strength or speed would make me a legend, but the ability to spread disease would get me confined to a small plastic room for life.
