George Price, the mathematician who established the genetic roots of altruism, committed suicide when he converted to Christianity and couldn't convince himself he was wrong.

He gave away everything he owned, ending up penniless and alone, but could never lose the sense that he was only acting on a genetic impulse.

The human will giveth and it taketh away.
