None of My Relatives Are Dead

My father just called me.  An old family friend, Aunt Dar, just went into the hospital.  She's in her late seventies and has lung cancer.  She probably won't leave alive.

I just realized that both my grandparents on my dad's side are still alive.  My grandfather on my mother's side is dead - but I never met the guy.

I'm twenty-five years old.  Not a single person I know to whom I am related has died in my entire life.

Why?
