#18: SENSORY LOSS

I understand that it is entirely possible to lose one of your senses - to go deaf, go blind, or lose your senses of taste or smell - and go on to lead a perfectly fulfilling life.  Certainly there are millions of people who never had one of these senses and have led lives that make my life look like the pathetic half-existence it is.

But I simply can't imagine going blind or deaf, or losing my sense of taste, and having any way to go on with my life.

I simply have too much invested in my abilities to see or hear to ever deal with losing either.  (As for sense of taste... I'm a glutton.)

Oddly enough, I often fantasize about losing my ability to talk.
